MFG Code of Conduct

MFG Cyclocross is about community, athleticism, inclusion, and of course bike racing. We are committed to ensuring that everyone who participates is treated equally and rides away celebrating the joy of a hard effort and a welcoming community. We are sharing this code of conduct to ensure that every single racer experiences this joy.

If a violation of this code of conduct occurs, please contact any Off Camber Productions staff or email us at mfg@offcamber.bike. Repeated violations will result in being sent to the principal’s office and you may be suspended or expelled from MFG. Oh my!

Code of Conduct

Be kind. If you read nothing else, read this. We are a community of cyclists, exercise enthusiasts, friends and neighbors who come together every fall to sweat, smile, laugh and connect. The kindness you share one week will translate into better relationships and stronger community the next. Be kind!

Inclusion. We welcome everyone! Harassment or discrimination based on an individual’s race, ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, sexual identity, age, military status, socioeconomic status or religion will not be tolerated. All participants, volunteers, spectators and sponsors are expected and required to abide by this policy.

Fun, not friction. MFG is a recreational league, not the World Cup. While some of our juniors and Cat 1/2 racers may aspire to become the next Mathieu Van Der Poel (incredibly dominant European cyclocrosser) 99% of you who race MFG should be focused on fun competition, pushing your own limits, and taking the next pickle hand-up. You are responsible for your race and your fun. If you end up staging with the wrong category, forget to install your timing chip, or miss your start, give yourself a laugh and smile and make sure it doesn’t happen next time.

Preview Laps. We encourage you to ride a preview lap on the course between races. Enter the course for your preview lap just past the finish line when we announce that the course is open for preview. Be aware there may still be racers ahead of you on course. NEVER pass anyone who is racing, and please give the last racers in the wave that is racing a 30 second gap so they do not feel crowded by you. And absolutely, never get ahead of someone racing.

Passing. MFG has lots of twisty, turny sections and sometimes passing can be tough! When passing, communicate: “Whenever it’s safe, I’d like to pass.” If there is enough room to safely pass: “On your left!” Be aware of who is coming up behind you. If someone catches you and you think they have more gas in the tank, let them pass. We will not tolerate aggressive and/or unsafe passing.

Be a Steward. We ride on the land of the Duwamish, Muckleshoot, Snoqualmie, Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla nations. We acknowledge and thank these caregivers who have a sustained connection to this land. Take care of the land and the park by being your best self and by picking up your garbage and that of others.
